Talents — Real Odds, Costs & the Builds Worth Rolling For

Talents let you bolt a perk from any class in Dino Kid onto the class you actually play. They are also a gacha with brutal odds. Here are the published drop rates, what a 5-star really costs in Diamonds, and the handful of builds that are worth your gems.

What is a Talent?

Your class gives you a starter kit and three perks unlocked at Levels 1–3. A Talent is a fourth perk, borrowed from a different class entirely — the layer that turns a good class into your class. It is the reason two players running Cyborg can play completely differently.

You do not pick — you roll

Talents are a gacha. You spend Diamonds and the game hands you a random perk from the shared pool of 41 Talents. There is no pity counter and no way to target a specific one.

You do not need to own the class

The pool draws from perks across the whole roster, so a free-to-play player can end up running a perk from a 600-Diamond class like Cyborg or Vampire without ever buying it.

One Talent per class

Each class holds a single Talent slot. You can roll separately for every class you own, so different loadouts can carry different Talents — but you can never stack two on one class.

A Talent is one thing, not a merge

You get either one passive from another class’s level tiers OR that class’s starter item — not the whole class. Talents complement your class; they do not replace its three built-in perks.

The real Talent odds

There are 41 Talents in the pool. These rates are the ones the game displays and they line up across every guide that has published them — the per-Talent chance multiplied by the number of Talents in each tier reproduces the tier total exactly.

What a 5-star actually costs

Run the numbers before you spend. At the commonly quoted 30 Diamonds per reroll:

  • A 3★ or better takes about 7 rolls on average — roughly 210 Diamonds. Very reachable.
  • A 4★ or better takes about 34 rolls — roughly 1,020 Diamonds. A weekend of serious farming.
  • A 5★ averages 345 rolls — roughly 10,350 Diamonds. That is more than the ~8,565 Diamonds needed to buy every single class in the game.
  • Even after 239 rolls (~7,170 Diamonds) you still have a 50% chance of having seen no 5★ at all. Averages are not guarantees.

Practical rule: set a hard budget of 3–4 rolls per class (about 120–150 Diamonds), keep anything that fits your playstyle, and walk away. Diamonds spent on a class you will actually play always beat Diamonds burned chasing 0.29%.

Best Talent in each tier

Rarity does not equal power in this game. Plenty of 1★ and 2★ Talents outperform rare ones simply because they fit more runs. These are the picks that hold up across solo, duo and full-squad play.

1★

Increased Visibility at Night — Camper

The cheapest tier to hit and genuinely useful on every class. Night vision is what keeps you alive when the Deer wakes up.

2★

Alien Tech Deals Increased Damage — Cyborg

Straight damage on any energy weapon build, and it lands often enough to actually plan around.

3★

+2 Sack Space — Scavenger

Boring and outstanding. Two extra slots means fewer trips back to camp on every single run, in every biome.

4★

10% chance for Wildfire as a bonus chest drop — Fire Bandit

Free burn utility from looting you were doing anyway. Strong on classes that clear chests fast.

5★

Other weapons have a chance to set enemies on fire — Fire Bandit

The jackpot pick: it upgrades whatever weapon you already hold. Do not plan a build around it — 1 roll in 345 is not a plan.

Talent builds that actually work

Cyborg + “Alien Tech recharges faster” (Alien)

The signature build. Cyborg’s Laser Cannon burns most of its charge bar in one shot, so the Alien passive directly removes the class’s biggest weakness instead of adding a stat you barely notice.

Any class + Berserker auto-revive

The most forgiving Talent in the game and the best one for newer players. It turns one fatal mistake per run into a scare instead of a restart — which matters far more than +5% of anything.

Vampire + Necromancer Level 1

Lifesteal plus soul collection makes a build that heals from almost every kill. A community favourite for Cultist Stronghold clears and deep 60+ night runs.

Slow class + Assassin Level 1

+10% sprint speed (at −15% HP) plus a chance for Throwing Knives in chests. Great on gatherers and Necromancer-style classes that need to cover ground; risky on Hard Mode.

Keep it or reroll it?

  • KEEP — a broad survival, movement or storage perk. It works in solo, duo and squad runs and never becomes dead weight.
  • KEEP — a combat perk on a combat class. Damage and crit perks are only worth a slot if you are the one fighting.
  • REROLL — a bonus to something you rarely do (furniture, chest-opening speed, niche cooking). Dead value is worse than a boring reliable perk.
  • REROLL — a perk tied to a mechanic your class already covers. Duplicating a strength wastes the whole slot.
  • STOP — the moment you hit your budget. Rerolling overwrites what you have, so a bad run of luck can leave you worse off than when you started.

Where the guides disagree

We would rather show you the conflict than pick a side. Three details are not settled across sources:

  • !Cost — most guides say 60 Diamonds for the first roll and 30 per reroll. Others report the unlock scaling with the class star tier (25–100 Diamonds) with a flat 25-Diamond reroll. Budget for the higher number.
  • !Level requirement — one guide states the class must already be Level 3 before its Talent slot opens. Most guides do not mention any requirement.
  • !Excluded classes — one source lists Support, Gambler, Zookeeper, Alien, Undead, Chef, Beastmaster, Pyromaniac, Big Game Hunter and Necromancer as unable to appear as Talents, yet other guides recommend Alien, Big Game Hunter and Necromancer Talents by name. Treat the exclusion list as unverified.

Talent odds cross-checked against Gamezebo, DroidGamers and RobloxDatabase (whose per-Talent percentages reproduce the published tier totals exactly).
