Dino Kid is built out of boxes, which makes him a perfect first character to draw. Nine steps, no hair to worry about, and an accurate reference sheet of every colour and detail taken from the in-game model and his missing poster.
What you need
A pencil for the blocking pass, a darker pen or liner for the final outline, and five colours: red, white, blue, black and yellow. Digital works the same way — sketch layer underneath, line layer on top, flat colours below the lines.
Step by step

Block in the head
Roblox heads are a rounded cube, not a circle. Draw a square with softened corners, slightly wider than it is tall, and lightly mark the vertical centre line — everything else hangs off that line.

Wrap the dino hood over it
The hat is a shell that covers the top and back of the head. Draw a bigger rounded shape sitting over the head, then bring the brim forward so it overhangs the forehead like an open mouth.

Add the teeth on the brim
A row of small triangles points down from the underside of the brim. Keep them even and blunt — five or six across the front is enough. This single detail is what makes people recognise Dino Kid instantly.

Give the hat eyes
Two white ovals sit high on the sides of the hood with small dark pupils. They belong to the dinosaur, not the boy — place them above and outside his real eyes so both faces read separately.

Run the spikes down the back
A line of triangular spikes starts between the hat eyes and runs over the crown toward the back. Make them shrink slightly as they go back so the head still looks round.

Draw his face — crying
Simple dot eyes, a small downturned mouth and one or two teardrops on the cheeks. His hair stays hidden under the hood, so you never have to draw it.

Box out the body
A rectangular torso about the same height as the head, two slim rectangular arms and two rectangular legs. Keep everything blocky — smooth curves will stop it looking like a Roblox character.

Add the clothing lines
A couple of short crease lines on the shirt sell the “wrinkled” look, a waistband line separates the jeans, and a thin strip across the bottom of each foot becomes the white sole of his black shoes.

Colour and shade
Flat colour first: red hat, white shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, yellow skin. Then one darker tone under the brim and along the underside of the arms — Roblox art keeps shading minimal and hard-edged.

Five mistakes that break the likeness
- ✗Drawing a round head. Roblox heads are cubes with rounded corners — a circle instantly breaks the style.
- ✗Making the hat a cap. It is a full hood that wraps the skull, with the brim overhanging like a jaw.
- ✗Sharp needle spikes. The spikes are short, blunt triangles; long spines turn him into a dragon.
- ✗Adding hair. It is completely hidden by the hood, so leave it out.
- ✗Over-shading. Two tones per colour is the ceiling for this art style.
Even easier version for younger artists
Draw only the head and hat, big and centred, and skip the body entirely. A rounded square, a hood over it, teeth on the brim, two hat eyes and a crying face — that alone is a finished, recognisable Dino Kid, and it fits on a sticky note.
